{"id":1479,"date":"2013-08-28T13:12:53","date_gmt":"2013-08-28T13:12:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bwnft.nhs.uk\/?page_id=1479"},"modified":"2015-04-21T13:17:51","modified_gmt":"2015-04-21T12:17:51","slug":"midwives-in-the-spotlight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bwh.timothyblake.com\/?p=1479","title":{"rendered":"Midwives in the Spotlight"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright size-full wp-image-1478\" style=\"float: right;\" alt=\"1 - Group shot of midwives\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bwnft.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/images_M_images_1_-_Group_shot_of_midwives.jpg\" width=\"298\" height=\"228\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1500\" \/>Midwives from Birmingham Women\u2019s Hospital are currently in the spotlight as part of an eight part BBC2 documentary, \u2018The Midwives\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><\/strong>The programmes which have been filmed at Birmingham Women\u2019s as well as hospitals in Manchester and Cardiff is the second series which follows midwives in their rewarding and yet challenging role.<\/p>\n<p>Programme makers, The Garden, spent over six months with the Women\u2019s following midwives in all areas of their roles; on the wards, in delivery suite and the birth centre, in the community and as mentors to students.<\/p>\n<p>Four episodes were made with Birmingham Women\u2019s and the hospital is very grateful to the many women, their partners and families who took part in the series, allowing the cameras to film such an important and often anxious time in their lives.<\/p>\n<p>The first episode featuring the Trust was transmitted on 27th August at 9pm on BBC2 and is available on BBC iPlayer for 2 months. The following episodes featuring our midwives will take place on 3rd September, 24th September and 8th October.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive, Professor Ros Keeton said, <em>\u201cThis is a great opportunity to showcase Birmingham Women\u2019s on primetime television.
