{"id":2498,"date":"2014-10-01T13:43:59","date_gmt":"2014-10-01T12:43:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bwnft.nhs.uk\/?post_type=news&#038;p=2498"},"modified":"2015-05-06T11:05:15","modified_gmt":"2015-05-06T10:05:15","slug":"2-womens-2-wheels-cycle-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bwh.timothyblake.com\/?p=2498","title":{"rendered":"2 the Women&#8217;s on 2 Wheels Cycle Challenge &#8211; We Did It!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><\/p>\n<p>Doctors, Midwives, Nurses, Scientists and Support Staff from the country\u2019s only two hospitals dedicated to the care of women and their babies took to their bikes on 21st\/22nd June to raise money for their respective charities.1 Cyclists 1<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bwnft.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cropped-cycle-image1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.bwnft.nhs.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/cropped-cycle-image1.jpg\" alt=\"cropped-cycle-image\" width=\"500\" height=\"242\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2503\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In an event dubbed \u2018To the Women\u2019s on 2 Wheels\u2019, teams from Birmingham Women\u2019s Hospital and Liverpool Women\u2019s Hospital cycled over 115 miles from each other\u2019s hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>Each hospital had a team of up to 20 cyclists who completed the 115 mile journey finishing at their own hospital. The two teams began their journeys from the opposite hospital on the Saturday morning before camping together at the halfway point near to Market Drayton on the Saturday evening and then riding for home on the Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Eileen Rock, Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Women\u2019s Hospital commented,<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt was great to join forces with Liverpool Women\u2019s Hospital for such a great cause. Our Hospitals have a long history of providing dedicated care to thousands of women and their families and our staff are incredibly proud of the care they provide.
