The Volunteers Service at Birmingham Women’s Hospital have received The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2013, this has been awarded to the Trust for the lifetime of its volunteers.
The Women’s was judged as the best in an impressive galaxy of volunteering talent and our achievements prove that volunteering is embedded deep within the organisation.
Chief Executive, Professor Ros Keeton commented, “This is a fantastic achievement for the Women’s Hospital and for our 100 plus army of volunteers. They selflessly provide their time for the benefit of our patients and the staff across the hospital in all areas. We are delighted to receive this award and I am so pleased that they have been recognised in this way.”
Four Volunteers attended the Queens Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace in June and as part of the award, the Trust will receive a certificate signed by The Queen and an exclusive commemorative crystal, presented by Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant later this year.
