The Women’s Hospital are delighted to announce that they have been shortlisted in two most prestigious NHS Awards for 2013, the Health Service Journal and the Nursing Times Awards.
The Trust is a finalist in two categories of the Health Service Journal Awards for Staff Engagement and Improving Care with Technology. The first category is about recognising organisations that have turned the theory of engaging with staff into reality and can show how staff engagement is delivering innovation and higher quality services. The Improving Care with Technology category is for the entry, ‘Using Next Generation Sequencing Technology to Improve Genetic Diagnosis of Familial Breast Cancer’. As finalists in this category, The West Midlands Regional Genetics Service at Birmingham Women’s Hospital is recognising initiaves where IT is improving the patient experience and clinical care.
The Nursing Times have shortlisted the Nurse Led Neonatal Outpatient Clinic in the Child and Adolescent Services category. The clinic which was developed by Transitional Care and Neonatal Outpatient Clinic Manager, Sian Woodhouse has been a valuable service for families who need that extra support after they have taken their baby home from the Neonatal Unit.
The Nursing Times awards recognise and reward individual nurses or teams for work that raises the standard of nursing practice and health care in the UK. The Awards also raise the profile of the profession, highlighting the quality of work being undertaken by nurses in all specialties and settings.
Chief Executive, Professor Ros Keeton explained, “The Trust was nominated last year in both sets of awards so it is a great achievement to be shortlisted again. I am incredibly proud that we are finalists and it demonstrates that year on year we are developing and further improving health care as well as investing in our staff.”
