Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust has been awarded £259,000 following a successful application to the Government’s Second Round Nurse Technology Fund. The Technology Fund supports nurses and midwives to make better use of digital technology in all care settings, in order to deliver safer, more effective and more efficient care.
The award will enable the Trust to implement an electronic rostering system which will transform the way in which nursing and midwifery staff are deployed and managed on site and in the community. The introduction of the smart technology will significantly improve clinical safety and patient outcomes by ensuring the right staff, with the right skills are in the right place, to meet the needs of patients.
Helen Young, Director of Nursing and Midwifery said, “This will enable us to deploy our nurses and midwives effectively. The system will help us provide safe care by matching the skills of our nurses and midwives to the care needs of our women and patients.”
We will be implementing the new system from June 2015.
