Weatherbys give it some welly!
When the staff at Weatherbys in Northampton decided to fundraise for the BWH Charity, the ingenious employees came up with the idea of a “Wear Your Wellies To Work Day”. Competitions held on the day included prizes for the Wackiest Wellies, the Most Extreme Wellies as well as for the Most Edible Wellies!! However, perhaps the bravery award goes to the “Team Jelly Welly”…those intrepid employees who suffered walking around with jelly in their wellies all day!!
In total, the staff in the IT department managed to raise a brilliant £767 for the ‘Tiny Babies, Big Appeal’. A very big thank you from all our tiny babies, their families and all the staff at the hospital.
AGCO Throw Themselves into Fundraising!
After a colleague’s baby had spent some time on our Neonatal Unit, kind-hearted employees at AGCO in Coventry decided they would like to raise funds for “Tiny Babies, Big Appeal”, quite literally throwing themselves into it by holding an Indoor Javelin Competition! Following a number of different fundraising events, the staff managed to raise a fantastic £1,000.
From all our tiny babies, their families and everyone at Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust…A very big Thank You !
AGCO Throw Themselves into Fundraising!
Staff from the Birmingham office of national law firm, Irwin Mitchell, have taken a leap of faith by taking part in a parachute jump in support of our appeal.
The daring eleven-strong team braved the terrifying 10,000 ft jump, which took place at Tilstock Airfield in Whitchurch, Shropshire and in doing so have raised more than £2,700 for the Tiny Babies charity appeal.
The fundraising event included one particularly hair-raising moment when a participant’s parachute failed to deploy. Thankfully, 27 year old trainee solicitor, Cheryl Palmer-Hughes’ reserve parachute opened and she landed unharmed.
Lorna Flood, one of the organisers of the charity jump said: “We were reassured by the experts at the airfield that it’s extremely rare for parachutes to fail. Even so, as Cheryl was in one of the first groups to jump, it was really nerve-wracking for the rest of us who had to follow her.”
Prior to the jump the Irwin Mitchell team took part in several smaller fund raising events including book and cake sales, a bag packing morning at Waitrose in Harborne, and even a sponsored dress-up day, when two members of staff bravely donned ‘baby-gro’ outfits and toddled around the office collecting cash for the cause.
On behalf of all our tiny babies, their parents and everyone at Birmingham Women’s Hospital, thank you!
